Jerry was born May 20, 1943, in Vian, OK, to Virgil and Alline Linthicum. The family moved to California in 1951, where they reared their three children.
Jerry moved to San Luis Obispo in 1967 in order to attend Cal Poly, where he graduated in 1970 with a degree in aeronautical engineering. Following graduation, he moved to the Bay Area. At this time, he started his professional career as a civil engineer with the Kiewit construction company and was involved with building the BART elevated rail system, the cooling canals at Pacific Gas and Electrics Pittsburg power plant and container port in Oakland before leaving to pursue the financial planning and life insurance business. He returned to San Luis Obispo in 1973, embarking on a new career in Financial and Estate Planning.
Jerry received his Charted Life Underwriter designation in 1979 and formed Linthicum Financial Services.
Jerrys passion for business and sales led him to become one of three founding partners of Call America Business Communications, founded in 1983. Following the sale of the company in 1996, Jerry acquired Cross Creek Ranch of San Luis Obispo, a commercial farming and citrus operation.
In addition to his family, Jerrys passion in life was general aviation. His pursuit of this passion culminated when he engineered, designed and built an Experimental Glasair III, which he took to Oshkosh International Air Show, winning Reserve Grand Champion, Kit-Built Sport Class in 1993. Jerrys Glasair also won Best of Fly-In 1994 for custom built, kit-built and composite at the Northwest EAA Fly-In. In 1995, Glasair N109JL won the Copper State Fly-In Grand Champion.
