Wesley Liddell, Jr., 80, of Thackerville, OK, was born on November 13, 1941 in Thackerville. He was the son of Wesley Liddell, Sr. and Mary (Bond) Liddell. He died February 14, 2022 in Gainesville, TX.
Wesley was a lifelong resident of Love County. He graduated high school in Thackerville, then earned an associate degree in Tishomingo, OK at Murray State College. He then returned home and worked on the family farm. Wesley was married in 1960 to Carolyn (Sconce) Liddell, together they raised four children. He was a Christian man and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Through the years, he worked in several places including the City of Marietta, worked as a roughneck in the oil field, the Highway State Department, but he was most known for serving as the Love County Sheriff for over 12 years. Wesley’s favorite hobbies included family gatherings, fishing, keeping up with the world events, and playing dominos at Taylor’s Place.
He was preceded in death by parents, Wesley Liddell, Sr. and Mary “Tootsie” Liddell.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Liddell of the home; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Elvis Monkres of Thackerville; children, JoAnna and John Hughes of Thackerville, Angie and Roger Hilton of Enville, OK, Missy and Robert Roper of Whitesboro, TX, and John and Kelly Liddell of Thackerville; grandchildren, Justin and Jill Young, Amber and Brad Webb, Honor and Josh Griffen, Isis and Daniel Butcher, Mason and Breezy Hilton, Brianna and David Sampson, Sadi Roper, Eli and Katrina Roper, Chloe and Wesley Wood, Zeke Roper, Parker and Kaitlyn Liddell, Jonnah and Lucas Whaley, and Levin Liddell. Wesley had 10 great-grandchildren and expecting more!
No services are scheduled at this time for Wesley. Arrangements have been entrusted to Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.
