A.P. "Pat" Lewis III, also known as Super PAPA by his grandchildren, passed away at the age of 79 in Stillwater, OK. on June 21, 2019. Pat was born on September 28, 1939 in Sulphur, OK. to A.P. jr and Phyllis Lewis. He was an only child.
After graduating from Sulphur High School, Pat moved to Stillwater to study at Oklahoma A&M in Agricultural Engineering, where he also wrestled for a short time. During college, Pat married Memory Mendoza, nee Shoffstall. They later had two children, Regan and Melody. After graduating, he began his career with the college as a Safety Specialist in the Ag. Engineering Extension Dept. working with 4-H agents around the state. He taught safety courses to the 4-H students, teaching them how to properly use farm equipment.
When Pat's first marriage came to an end, he met Earlene Gibble-Lewis and they married 4 years later in Reno, NV. They spent many fun weekends entertaining friends and family. Pat loved spending time with his children taking them on fun trips and often going fishing, boating and water skiing. Pat was one of the biggest Oklahoma State sports fans of all time! He loved tail gating and owned season football tickets for over 30 years. Pat never met a stranger. He was always fun to visit with and always had a joke ready to tell. He was the life of the party. He loved to participate in fundraising events. In Pat's retirement, he enjoyed being a member and an Exalted Ruler for the Stillwater Elks Lodge and playing cards with his buddies.
Pat is survived by his wife Earlene Lewis of Stillwater, daughter Melody Rucker of Guthrie, daughter in-law Terri Lewis of Tampa, Florida, son-in-law Douglas Acklin and wife Angela of Saint Augustine, Florida, daughter in-law Lorie Dobson and her husband Randy of Stillwater, grandchildren Victoria Whisenant and her husband Cole of Allen, Oklahoma, Storm Rucker of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Step-granddaughter Ashley Hernandez and her husband Daniel of Stillwater and great-grandchildren Cash and Ava Whisenant.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Regan Lewis.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Elks Lodge in Stillwater, OK at 1pm.
