Rosemary Thielen Lehmann, a devoted housewife, Lehmann family matriarch and former bookkeeper for Guthrie's First National Bank, died May 19, 2014. She was 85. Born July 14, 1928, in Muskogee to W.C. and Ada Martin Thielen, she grew up on Columbus Ave., and graduated from Central High School in 1947.
She married her high school sweetheart, William E. (Bill) Lehmann, also of Muskogee, in 1948 and made homes in Muskogee, Sherman and Larado, Texas; Ponca City, Pawhuska and Guthrie. She and Bill resided in Guthrie for 47 years. He was publisher of the Guthrie Daily Leader and later established an oil company, Cimarron Valley Exploration.
Rosemary worked as a bookkeeper in the banking business and later joined her husband in maintaining the books for their oil company.
They retired and continued to reside in Guthrie until moving to Ada in November 2013 to live with their children.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home in Ada; a daughter, Mary Catharine Lehmann, and a son, Gene Lehmann, all of Ada, and her beloved granddaughter, Michael Catharine Lehmann, Austin, Texas. Memorial services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Guthrie. If so inclined, the family suggests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the local animal shelter of your choice since, it is entirely possible, she found a home for every stray cat and dog lucky enough to cross her path.
