Dr. Faye Mozelle Leach

May 12, 1919 ~ March 26, 2009

Dr. Faye Mozelle Leach passed away March 26, 2009 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, Texas.

Dr. Leach is the last surviving member of her family.

She was born May 12, 1919 in Caney, Oklahoma. She was the next to youngest member of her family which included three sisters and four brothers.

Dr. Leach was a life long teacher and began her teaching career in a rural Pittsburg county school in 1941. She later taught in McAlester and Tulsa school systems.

After receiving her doctorate degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1974, she joined the staff at Mississippi State University.

She retired in 1989 and moved to Durant, Oklahoma.

She was married to the late Clarence Leach, from Durant, Oklahoma and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Durant.

Dr. Leach is survived by two children, Susan Nelms of Denton, Texas and Charles Leach of Choctaw, Oklahoma. She has five grandchildren, David Leach, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Jonathan Leach of Norman, Oklahoma, Dr. Jeffery Nelms of Bedford, Texas, Brian Nelms of Denton, Texas and Stephanie Nelms-Wright of Denton, Texas. There are four great granddaughters, Haley Leach of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sydney and Shelby Nelms-Wright of Denton, Texas and Camille Nelms of Bedford, Texas.

Services will be Monday, March 30, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Dalton-Holmes Chapel, where she will be laid to rest. Rev. James Robinson will be officiating.

Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
