Jerry Lawhorn, who passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Jerry was born July 11, 1957 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Janis Lawhorn.
Jerry grew up with the loving care and guidance of his grandparents Vernon & Hazel Lawhorn who lived in Chelsea. He graduated from Chelsea High School in 1977 and later Rogers State College in Claremore, Oklahoma. He then graduated from the 39th Academy of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on August 20, 1982. He first served in Troop L in Rogers County. He was currently serving in Troop XA, on the Will Rogers Turnpike. He was a member of the Oklahoma State Trooper Organization and was a long time Director of the Oklahoma State Troopers Association. He married Pamela Benight on November 28, 1989 at Greer Baptist Church near Chelsea, Oklahoma.
Jerry was a loving family man. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed being at home watching movies or TV with his wife and taking their annual cruises together. He enjoyed the holidays and the family cookouts. He spent a lot of his off time working on his farm and enjoying his cattle. He was always there for his fellow troopers, being a mentor to the younger Troopers.
Jerry was always there to help in any way. He was respected by all, both professionally and personally and he will be deeply missed. He went to be with the Lord Wednesday afternoon at his home near Chelsea.
His Grandparents Vernon & Hazel preceded him in death. He is survived by: His Wife, Pamela of the Home His Mother, Janis Carrigan and husband Gene of Tulsa, Oklahoma Three Sons, Brandon Lawhorn of Vinita, Oklahoma, Cory Lawhorn and wife April of Chelsea, Oklahoma Tim Cable and wife Christy of Moore, Oklahoma Two Daughters, Jessica Jones and husband Wesley of Claremore, Oklahoma Ashley Benight of Chelsea, Oklahoma Sister, Louise Hull and husband Larry of Chelsea, Oklahoma Four Grandchildren, Allee Cable, Bryzell Jones, Carson Lawhorn and Izabel Jones. And a host of other relatives and friends
