Karen LaDale Lassetter

Karen LaDale Lassetter
September 1, 1948 ~ March 27, 2026

Karen LaDale Lassetter, 77, from Norman, Oklahoma passed peacefully on March 27, 2026. She was born to Dale Mixon and Dorothy May Armstrong in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 1, 1948. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, a niece, a brother-in-law, and her husband of 44 years, Richard Lassetter. She is survived by her sister, Melody A. Saxon, and her stepchildren, Mark Lassetter (wife, Holly) and Leanne Warren (husband, Phil). She also leaves behind her 4 grandchildren, her 2 great-grandchildren, her beloved nieces and nephews, and close friends.

At South Garland High School, she was a member of the Southern Belles Drill Team. She loved the world of drama and music. Karen started her college career at Texas Woman’s University majoring in Nursing before transferring to East Texas State University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. While at both colleges, she was heavily involved in the drama programs and was part of a select group to perform in Washington, D.C. After graduation, she taught junior high for a few years. She then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where her major was Musical Arts in Church Music.

Karen’s interests changed when she decided to follow her sister into police work. Moving to Norman, OK, she served at the Norman Police Department for 20 years. While working as a police officer, she met her husband, Richard. After retirement, she went to school for massage therapy. She utilized her massage therapy skills in volunteer and mission work alongside her husband Richard, with various organizations throughout Oklahoma, the US, and even abroad in Australia, China, Armenia, and Israel. Karen was a volunteer with the Oklahoma Baptist Builders, Union Baptist Association (UBA), Campers on Mission, and the Home Mission Board. She was also a member of the Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma as a vocalist. The couple enjoyed helping people in their time of need even through something as simple as setting up tables, being a shoulder to lean on, and sharing their faith.

Family trips that involved camping, canoe float trips, and other such fascinating adventures were a much enjoyed pastime for Karen. She was part of a church anywhere she lived. Karen and Richard were members of Trinity Baptist Church in Norman, OK since 1982, where she was a member of the choir and the drama team. She lived a blessed and fulfilled life and was particularly blessed with two wonderful church friends, Nancy Peavler and Peggy Rhoton, who were a source of moral support and encouragement.

A celebration of life for Karen Lassetter will be held at Trinity Baptist Church in Norman, OK on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation to Indian Falls Creek: online at indianfallscreek.org/give or by mail at Indian Falls Creek, 517 S Francis St., Ada, OK. 74820 or giving a designated gift to the Adoption Fund through Trinity Baptist Church.
