Larry Ellisworth Larimore

Larry Ellisworth Larimore of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on May 23, 2019, in Blackwell at the age of 77 years.

Larry Ellisworth Larimore was born on May 12, 1942, in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. He was the son of Forrest Ellisworth and Wilma Marie (Rich) Larimore. He grew up in Northern Oklahoma and Southern Kansas attending public schools and graduated in 1961 from the Fairview High School. Following his education he entered the United States Navy serving until his retirement in June 1980. In 1981 he was one of two of a 146 applications to be selected by the Navy to recommission and serve on the recommissioned USS Iowa serving until his retirement in 1992. He married Delores (Clark) Routt in 1973 and they made their home in Philadelphia, California and Ava Missouri. In 2001 he moved to Blackwell to be near his mother. On October 30, 2004, he married Rose Marie Hatcher and they made their home in Blackwell. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Larry was a kind and generous person and never met a stranger. On September 21, 2017, Rose Marie preceded him in death and he continued to live in Blackwell.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Virgil Phillips; one son, Vince Edward Larimore; one brother, Gary Lee Larimore; and one sister, Coleen Jarvis.

He is survived by two sons, Stephen Anthony Larimore and wife Esmeralda of Conroe, Texas, and Thomas Michael Larimore of Ava, Missouri; three step-sons, Ernest Hatcher Jr., and wife Kimberly of North Carolina, Ron Hatcher and wife Sheila of Derby, Kansas, and Chuck Hatcher of Blackwell; one step-daughter, Shirley Smith and husband John of Lakeland, Florida; one sister, Carolyn Wright and husband Raymond of Ponca City, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 10:00 am, at the Church of Christ with Lanny Jobe officiating. Burial will follow at the Veterans Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.

A memorial has been established in his memory with the Wounded Warriors and the Blackwell Fire Department c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
