Gary Lynn Lance, 80, went to be with his Lord on May 11, 2023. He was born to C. Edward Lance and Harriet Lance on May 28, 1942 in Carmi, IL. Gary married Anita M. Payne on May 26, 1964. They had two children, Laura and Ricky.
Gary was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and supported them any way he could.
He taught mathematics for 40 years at Southern Nazarene University. He was an active member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene where he served as head usher for many years. He had a servant’s heart and loved helping others.
Gary was preceded in death by parents, C. Edward Lance and Harriet Lance.
He is survived by wife, Anita Lance; daughter, Laura Lance; son, Ricky Lance and wife Carolyn; 3 grandchildren, Heather Graham and husband Christopher, Nathan Lance, and Brian Lance; great-granddaughter, Margaret Graham; sister, Sheryl Ogg and husband Gary; and sister, Pamela Clayton and husband David.
Viewing will be Sunday 2pm-8pm and Monday 9am-8pm with family present from 3-5pm on Sunday at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday, May 16 at Bethany First Nazarene Church.
