Harold E. Lancaster, Sr., 81 year old Woodward resident, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Clinton. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2023 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Harold Eugene Lancaster was born on March 22, 1941 in Morgantown, West Virginia to Harold Eugene and Cally Lancaster. Harold grew up in Osage, Starr City and Morgantown, West Virginia. He attended school at Osage and Morgantown. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1965. He served his country during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, Sharpshooter Badge, Rifle Bar, Overseas Bars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Purple Heart. He was discharged from the Army in 1969.
He was united in marriage to Marlene Clugston on April 23, 1976 in Michigan. They made their first home in Kalamazoo, Michigan before moving to Naples, Florida, Atlantic City, New Jersey, Star City, West Virginia before settling in Woodward, Oklahoma. Harold worked for Clemens Furniture in Michigan and later worked in the construction business and the oilfield.
He enjoyed playing spades, bowling, watching Atlanta Braves baseball and the Dallas Cowboys. Harold loved spending time with his family.
Harold is survived by his wife Marlene Lancaster of the home; sons: Ernest Lancaster, Matthew Lancaster, Harold Lancaster, Jr, Heath Johnson and wife Jennifer, Jesse Clugston and wife Shyila; one daughter Tina Leet; grandchildren: Casey Howay, Jillian Johnson, Madison Johnson, Austin Johnson, Joshua Johnson, William Brockway, Breonna Richey, Jesse Clugston, Aiden Clugston, and Cameron Wilson; great-grandchildren: Hayleigh and Natalie Barnes, Jeremiah Lewis, William and Wyatt Brockway; one brother Pete Lancaster; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Katana Richey.
