John William "Big John" Lampkins, Sr.

November 8, 1926 ~ May 27, 2001

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thurs., May 31, 2001, in the Holy Cross section of Hillcrest Memorial Park for John W. Lampkins, Sr., 74, who passed away May 27th at Memorial Hospital. Viewing will be May 30th, 4-8 p.m.

Big John was born November 8, 1926, in Blocker, Oklahoma. He served proudly during WWII for the US Army in the 25th Calvary (Wolfhounds). He retired from Chevron Chemical after 30 years and then worked 7 years for Floyds.

John is survived by Carolyn, his wife and companion of 22 years; two sons, John Jr. and wife, Penny of Bakersfield, and Steven of Porterville; daughter, Deborah Arellano of Fresno; and two step-children, Michael Moore of Wasilla, Alaska and Teresa Moore of Bakersfield. Grandchildren; Steven, Wendy, Kristy, Donna and Desiree plus numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother John Cecil Lampkins; nephews, Ed and Gene; niece, Donnette.

Contributions can be made to the Cancer Society, Heart Association, or the SPCA.
