Virginia Lagal, 84, of rural Caney, Kansas, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015, at her home, after a long and happy life. Virginia May Rau was born July 27, 1930, at Pawnee, Oklahoma, the fourth of six children to Percy Walter Rau and Bessie May (Jobe) Rau. She was raised in Pawnee and Morrison, Oklahoma, attending schools there, and at Caney High School. She married Elba Stoneman Lagal June 5,1950, at Independence, Kansas. They raised their three daughters, Bessie, Darlene, and Deloris in rural Caney, Kansas. Virginia was employed at various locations in Montgomery County before finally retiring from Phillips Petroleum Company, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in 1985. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, and reading. In earlier years Virginia and Elba enjoyed camping, fishing, and water skiing. Virginia was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Caney.
Survivors blessed by her memory are her three daughters, Bessie and husband Mike Fichtl of rural Caney, Darlene and husband Larry Parker of Fredonia, Kansas, and Deloris and husband Arlen Wiens of rural Bartlesville; six grandchildren, John, Ginger, Regan, Ryann, Jake, and Rebecca; eight great grandchildren; two brothers: George and wife Ramona Rau of Caney, and Donald Rau of LaPorte, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and two sisters. Family and friends express that she was much loved and will be truly missed.
Cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register book 8am to 5pm daily at the Potts Chapel Funeral Home in Caney. Celebration of Life Services will be announced by the family at a later date.
