Bruce Langdon Lack
March 27, 1950 ~ July 17, 2019

The service celebrating and honoring the life of Bruce Langdon Lack, 69, of Enid will be Monday, July 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Oakwood Christian Church, Enid, OK, under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Bruce was born March 27, 1950 to John and Lois Lack in Hominy, OK, and passed away July 17, 2019, at his home, in Enid, after a long illness. He lived in Davis, Purcell, Lexington, Hartman, AR, Wayne and, in 1967, moved to Mtn. View OK, where he met the love of his life, Debbie Blanchett. He graduated from Mtn. View High School in 1968 and attended Okmulgee State Tech for 2 years and studied diesel mechanics. He and Debbie were married June 17, 1970 in Mtn. View and moved to Hennessey, OK, where he began his long career as a diesel mechanic in the oil field. He was baptized in 1984 at Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church along with his son, Cody. In 1986, he and his brother in law, Jan Bartley, purchased Garfield Battery and it became JB Parts and Service.

In 1991, Bruce went to work at Bearing Rubber & Hydraulics. Several years later, he went to work in OKC for Sooner Rubber & Supply as an outside salesman and traveled from I-35 to the Texas Panhandle and from I-40 into Southern Kansas. He retired, due to health, reasons in 2010. At the time of his death, he was still doing small engine repair in his garage.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Debbie, of the home, son Cody and wife Alissa of Wellington, KS, daughter Amy and husband Travis Brown of Broken Arrow, OK, grandchildren, Ariel Lack, Edmond, Gavin Lack, Emily and Hailey Shire of Enid and Langdon Lack of Wellington, KS., sister Birdie Harkey and husband Kenneth of Springdale, AR, brothers Johnny and wife Patty of Mtn. View, and Joe and wife Debbie of Dover. Several nieces, nephews and cousins will also miss him dearly.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his youngest sister and brother, Toni Lack Wade and Gary Michael Lack, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Bruce was very involved in his children's sports activities. He coached both Cody and Amy in baseball, softball and basketball for several years, even coaching Cody's baseball team 2 years in a row in the Junior World Series. He was president of EYI (Enid Youth, Inc.) for 4 years and on the board of EJRT (Enid Joint Recreational Triad)for several years during the building of Crosslin Park. He was a basketball referee for EYI for 5 years. He learned to play golf in 1971 after going on his first vacation with Debbie's family and realizing that if he didn't know how to play, he would be left at home with the women! This was the beginning of a long golf career. He and Debbie played golf together regularly. They traveled to several states with their friends, Bob and Sherry Adamson, on golf vacations and played in numerous couple's tournaments.

Bruce also enjoyed fishing and teaching his grandchildren how to fish, spending time with his family and friends and attending Grace Bible Church. He and Debbie were members of Oakwood Christian Church and the Encourager's Sunday School class from 1988 thru 2000 where he served as a deacon and Elder. He and Steve Perry and Glenn Richards designed and built the new cross which still hangs in the sanctuary of Oakwood Christian. During his time at Davis Park Christian Church, from 2000 to 2012, he served on the Church Board, was an Elder and was very involved with the remodeling of the new church building. Also, during this time, he had the privilege of baptizing three of his grandchildren, Emily, Langdon and Hailey. These were his proudest moments as a grandfather.

His desire was for all of his family and friends to know and love Jesus.

Memorials may be made in Bruce's memory to Grace Bible Church.
