Peter Helmut Lache

Peter Helmut Lache
October 31, 1938 ~ September 29, 2017

Peter was born October 31, 1938 in East Germany. In 1957, Peter and his family ; parents: Richard and Ida (Arlt) and his sister's family came to America. They eventually settled in Kewaskum, WI. It was in this small community that Peter met and fell in love with Lavilla Bruessel. They married in 1958.

They raised their children in West Bend, WI until moving to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1988.

Peter's friends affectionately refer to Lavilla as "Petey's Bride."

Peter and Lavilla have five children, Dean (Brenda) Lache, Chris (Danny Joslen) Lache, Linda Lache, Steve (Tami) Lache and Amy Parton.

Peter always enjoyed time with all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Sara Katzenberger, Stacy (Jesse) Neu-Parker and Paige Neu, David and Andrew Wierzibicki, Nicholas, Nathan and Spencer Lache. He is further survived by three sister-in-laws, Doris Bondlender, Janice Thill, and Carol (Dennis) Weiss.

Throughout his successful 45 year career at Mercury Marine, Peter met and influenced a great number of co-workers in Cedarburg, WI, Fon du Lac, WI and eventually retired from the Stillwater plant in 2002.

Peter enjoyed boating and boating related sports with his young family. He competed in table tennis when he wasn't on the water. An early interest in motorcycles grew into a passion for riding and touring that took Peter all over the country multiple times. During these trips Peter developed many strong and lasting friendships. It was easy to tell how much he cherished these friendships and the time that they all got to spend together riding. As Peter would say, "There is no better therapy than a ride!"

A wide, welcoming grin and a complete willingness to help are only two of the many qualities that keep Peter shining in our memories.

Peter is preceded in death by his parents; Richard and Ida (Arlt) Lache; his sister, Eva Ulig; a grandson, Eric Lache; and several brother-in laws.

There will be a service to honor and remember Peter on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 4:00p.m. at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater.

Condolences may be sent to the family via an online guestbook at www.pmcfhstillwater.com
