Melvin Joseph Kuba of Colbert, Oklahoma was born April 23, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Melvin G. and Wyona Schamel Kuba.
Melvin went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 16, 2016 in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 24 days.
Melvin joined the United States Navy directly out of high school and served in the Vietnam war.
He was a taxidermist and also a very skilled handyman.
He also worked at International Paper in the maintenance department.
Melvin married Christine Johnson on September 14, 2012 in Jones County, Iowa. Together, they moved to Bryan County, Oklahoma in December of 2012 to enjoy the outdoors. He loved to fish and hunt.
Melvin also enjoyed exercising and weightlifting. His favorite downtime was relaxing in his chair, with the dogs on his lap, watching Gunsmoke.
Melvin was of the Catholic faith. He will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joan.
He is survived by his wife, Christine of Colbert, Oklahoma, daughters, Cindy Severide of Minnesota, Sherry Kuba of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Melissa Kuba of Martelle, Iowa; sisters, Pat Verdught and husband Don of Missouri, Jackie Wright and husband Ron of Washington, Kandy Kuba of Mississippi, and Jane Kuba of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brothers, Joe Kuba and John Kuba, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and four grandchildren.
Services to celebrate the life of Melvin will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
