Robert Alfred Koehn was born August 22, 1942 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Alfred and Adeline (Ratzlaff) Koehn. On May 12, 2020 with his wife and daughter by his side, he was astounded at the beauty of Heaven and the joy of resting in God's presence as he gained his Heavenly Reward.
Robert was raised in Fairview with sisters, Judy, Sheryle, and brother Johnny. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1961 and completed his education at Okmulgee School of Vocational Technology. Robert married Judy Unruh on May 18, 1968 in Fairview, Oklahoma, and together, they raised one daughter Jannice. The couple enjoyed 51 years of marriage and would have celebrated their 52nd anniversary 6 days following his passing.
Robert worked in the painting department for Waldon for over 30 years, and he also owned a lawn care service. He was a handyman extraordinaire and could seemingly fix anything to which he set his mind. He was an extensive collector of items to be "re-purposed" and had an innovative eye for creating something useful. In the last 10+years, Robert enjoyed his work as a maintenance man for the Fairview Fellowship Home where he was able to share his talents with the residents he served. Robert became a Christian at a young age and was a member of the Fairview Church of the Nazarene, rarely missing a Sunday service. He served as a church board member, usher, and helped build the new church building and parsonage. He used lumber from the old Nazarene Church building to construct his family's home. Robert was known to his family and friends as kind, generous with his time, and always willing and able to extend his hand to help someone in need. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In his spare time, he loved watching his grandchildren play sports, and he also enjoyed tending to his cattle.
A loving person like Robert leaves a big "sacred space" in our hearts. It's only God's comforting, understanding presence, there in that sacred space that makes it possible to bear and gives us peace. He will be greatly missed, but we have confident expectation we will see him again someday.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a son Tony who was stillborn.
Left to honor his legacy are his wife Judy of the home, daughter Jannice with husband Dustin Hicks, 2 grandchildren Kaeden and Ally Hicks, sisters Judy Midyett and Sheryle with husband Larry Watkins, brother Johnny with wife Mary Lee Koehn, sister-in-law Cheryl and Phillip Thompson, brother-in-law Jeffrey and Karla Unruh, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Fairview Church of the Nazarene with the Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.
