On November 20, 2019 at 12:35 am, Mrs. Joyce D. Knight left this earth to join her husband Max in Heaven, leaving love, happiness and joy to her great-great-granddaughter, Hadley. Mrs. Knight was born in Ponca City on August 8, 1926 to Red and May Artman. She graduated from Burbank High School. Joyce married Max Knight on September 16, 1949 in Eureka Springs, AR. She was the first female loan officer of Ponca City Savings and Loans and held a variety of positions in the banking industry throughout her career. She was a member of the Osage Heights Baptist Church and played the piano for many years. She and her husband enjoyed collecting unusual paperweights and jewelry. They were life-long residents of Ponca City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max of 65 years, her parents, Red and May Artman, her sisters, Pauline, Lois, and Ann, and one brother, Wayne.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Marnie Nemechek, brother, John Artman of Newkirk, step-daughter, Sarah Oberly, granddaughter, Jennifer Hendren, great-grandchildren, Allie, Fletcher and Jojo, great-great grandchildren, Hadley and Brady, sister-in-law, Leatha Knight-Eck, nieces, Sharon Birmingham, Trish Eck, Lisbeth Klein, Kathy Appling, Dawn Hall, Kelly and Susan Johnson and Connie O’Quain, nephews, Chris Johnson and Mike Artman.
A memorial ceremony for Mrs. Knight will be held at Trout Funeral Home in Ponca City on Tuesday, November 26th at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Ave., Ponca City, OK 74601.
