Lois Ann (Winget) Knapp

???? ~ November 22, 2004

KNAPP, LOIS ANN passed away November 22, 2004 after a lengthy illness. Born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma the 9th of 10 children of parents Bert and Icey Maude Winget.

Survived by husband of 58 years Al Knapp; also one sister, two brothers-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and spouses.

Lois was baptized as a young girl in the First Baptist Church in Bartlesville, OK and accepted Jesus as her savior.

She was an outstanding student graduating with honors from Bartlesville High School. Lois would forego her college during the depression years to work helping her parents. Her father a pioneer oil drilling contractor would abandon his tools in the oil fields when oil dropped to 50 cents a barrel and drilling stopped. During WWII Lois was a Red Cross volunteer and assisted Hollywood celebrities on war bond drives. Lois and Al were married on April 3, 1946 at a Marine Corps Base in North Carolina while Al was still on active duty.

In the early years of marriage while Al was starting his career in the Insurance business. Lois was employed by an International Corporation being responsible for depositing millions in contracts and doing accounting work. For a time Lois maintained her "home office" assisting accountant friends during tax season and doing audits and statistical typing. Lois was a private person, yet an outgoing and proud individual.

She had many acquaintances and was a friend to all who would want her to be. She was an excellent bridge player and for many years co hosted, sponsored bridge clubs while a member of Lakewood Country Club. She also enjoyed dancing an entertaining family, friends and Al's sales organizations many years at Lakewood. Lois found great pleasure in spending time at their Delta county farm the past 40 years. She loved to fish for bass and cat fish in the farm ponds. She shared the abundance of her farm vegetable gardens with neighbors and friends. She worked hard at restoring our country farm house and entertaining "city folks" who came to visit us. Lois enjoyed riding her Palomino horse on trail rides, grand entries at small town rodeos and the street dances that followed. She was relaxed and at ease at her country farm as well as the at the country club.

Lois and Al enjoyed traveling and took many trips and cruises visiting many places in the world with their friends of many years, J. P. and B. J. Weber. Lois was a loving and devoted wife. A gracious and spirited woman, a caring person and true friend. She will be missed, but remembered.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 26, 2004 at Restland Abbey Chapel. Entombment Restland Abbey Mausoleum.

Family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel.
