October 7, 1946 ~ September 26, 2019

Robert Wayne Kitchens was born on October 7, 1946 in Durant, OK to Robert and Verna (McGrew) Kitchens. Wayne passed from this life on September 26, 2019 at his home in Calera surrounded by his loving family.

A lifelong resident of Bryan and Johnston counties Wayne graduated from Caddo High School and attended Murray State College in Tishomingo. He married the love of his life Karen Sue Reeder on December 28, 1998. Wayne has been in Law Enforcement all his life and served as Undersheriff of Johnston Co. He and Karen attended Believer’s Church in Durant and he enjoyed reading his bible, horses, music and he loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Wayne is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 20 plus years, Karen Sue Kitchens of the home; children, Robbie Jo Burt and Brandon Joe Webb; sister, Suzy Kitchens; grandchildren, Ty Burt, Lacey Burt, Brooklyn Webb and Erica Webb; great grandchildren, Landon Wayne Emerson, Brooklyn Johnson, Jesse Burt and Ckye Burt and numerous extended family and dear friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; son in law, Jesse Burt; sister in law, Sandra Northcutt and nephew, Paul Howell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday October 4, 2019 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Jon Smith and Chaplain Leon Veazey will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Webb, Ty Burt, Tom Winkler, Steve Eckman, Harley Smith, Christopher McKinney and Victor Orchapechi. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneraservice.com. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Guardian Hospice for the love and care they gave to Wayne.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
