Almetrice Morgan Kinslow was born June 9, 1941, to Thurman and Susie Morgan in Frederick.
She went to her heavenly home Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, at the age of 82.
When Almetrice was still at a young age, the family moved to Wichita, Kan.
She received Christ at an early age and was baptized at a tent revival in North Wichita.
Almetrice graduated from East High School in 1961 and, after having a rough time at Wichita East, she was the first in her family to graduate high school.
Later she enrolled at Langston University, majored in home economics and became a member of the Sigma Gamma Rho sorority on Oct. 18, 1963.
At Langston, she met and married Ruelle Kinslow and from this union three beautiful children were welcomed: Mark, Ronald and Fachaitte.
Almetrice moved to Dover with Ruelle and became a member of Wannamaker Baptist Church.
At Wannamaker, she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
She helped with many of the church special programs and made the robes for the youth choir.
After over 35 years at Wannamaker, Ruelle and Almetrice would move their membership to Grayson Missionary Baptist Church in Enid, where she served faithfully until her passing.
She resided in Dover at the same address for almost 60 years. Being the talented seamstress she was, Almetrice would make all the clothes for her and her children and even a few suits for Ruelle.
She would later go back to Langston and finish her degree in May 1976.
Her dream was to become a home economics teacher, but put those dreams aside to stay at home and help with the family farm and raise their children.
Almetrice would make money sewing for countless people all over the community.
After Ruelle was no longer on the Dover School Board, she was able to fill in as a substitute teacher and it was then she decided she no longer had the desire to be a teacher!
Over the years, Almetrice was a member of the Eastern Star and the Golden Leaf Extension.
She did student teaching at Kingfisher Public Schools and substitute teaching at Dover Public Schools.
She worked at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office and Pioneer Telephone Cooperative in Kingfisher.
After 15 years at Pioneer, she was able to retire and enjoy her other hobbies which included reading, cooking, shopping and listening to music.
Her biggest and latest enjoyment was embroidering and making quilts.
Almetrice was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Susie Morgan; her siblings James, Alonzo, Dorothy and Mae-Ola; and her son Mark.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ruelle; son Ronald (Grace) of Dover; daughter Fachaitte of Oklahoma City; daughter- in-law Karen of Denver, Colo.; and adopted daughter Carmella Davis of Plano, Texas.
She has five grandchildren: Erica, Jaalen, McKael, Ariel and Rody; three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Other survivors include close friends Jill Hatch of Missouri City, Texas, Marie Bufford of Crescent, Joyce Crabtree of Guthrie and a host of endless relatives and friends.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Dover Gymnasium, under the direction of Temple & Sons Funeral Home.
