Dr. Larry Carlton Key, a Lane resident, was born on January 24, 1938, to Paul Lafette and Leeola May (Freeman) Key, at Valley Mills, TX. He passed away on January 16, 2023 at Coalgate, OK at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 23 days.
Dr. Key graduated from San Rafael High School and received his Doctorate Degree in Education Administration from Utah State University. He worked in Education Administration, was a singer/songwriter, master carpenter, project director for the McGee Creek Project, Administrator at the Coalgate Hospital and owned Scobbo’s Restaurant in Atoka.
Dr. Key married Sharon Irene Mowdy on May 29, 2019, at San Marcos, TX. He was of the Methodist Faith. Dr. Key enjoyed football, dancing, gardening, fishing, hunting and time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed eating especially chocolate. Dr. Key loved listening to jazz and was in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.
