Charles Wesley Kerns Sr. (Wesley) passed away on January 3, 2022, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma at the age of 93. Wesley was born on July 3, 1928, to George Everett Kerns and Lillian Mrtlye (Phillips) Kerns in Foraker, Oklahoma.
Wesley attended school in Missouri and Arkansas, as well as Barnsdall, OK and Claremore, OK. During his working years, Wesley worked for many companies including Phillips 66, Glen Dennis Oil, and City Service Oil Company, he was a bus driver for the City of Bartlesville. He also worked as the plant manager for Synergy Gas where he later retired from. Wesley enjoyed western swing music, he played the fiddle, and was a pitcher for the Phillips 66 men’s fast pitch team. His greatest accomplishment was serving in the United States Army during World War II as a Corporal from 1950 until he was honorably discharged in 1952.
Wesley was preceded in death by his mother and father, George and Lillian (Phillips) Kerns; his sisters: Evelyn Alice (Kerns) Haymes and Doris Arlene (Kerns) Kindley; his brothers: Howard Allen Kerns, Ronald Lee Kerns, Larry Dee Kerns, and George Everett Kerns Jr.
He is survived by his son, Charles W. Kerns Jr. “Chuck”; his daughters: Deborah Lynn McQueen and Linda M Kerns; one granddaughter, Leah Donyae Linde of Tuscon, AZ; one great-grandson, Arantxo “Arrow” Linde of Springfield, MO; Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his niece, Glenda and husband John Howard of Locust Grove, OK, sister-in-law and nieces, Becky Kerns and Debbie Sue Kerns.
Memorial Services will be held at Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday January 11, 2022, at 2:00PM in Bartlesville, OK. In lieu of flowers, please donate all memorial contributions to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
