George Andrew Kerna, age 64, died on April 14, 2017 at his "fishing pond" side property near Dewey, Oklahoma. His guard dog, family and friends will miss him dearly.
George was born in Marlette, Michigan on November 11, 1952 to Andrew and Helene Kerna. He had an older brother, Michael and younger sister Andrea Ritter. After graduating high school, and a brief stint at Ferris College, he moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he joined the staff at the Phillips Petroleum Company (PPCO) research facility. He spent 35 years there.
George was an avid sports participant and fan beginning with his involvement in the PPCO men's softball league and the Adams men's golf league. Later in life he enjoyed following college sports and betting on the ponies. His friends and colleagues spoke of George as an easy guy to befriend and just a pleasure to be around.
George is survived by his brother Michael and wife Becky, his sister Andrea and her husband Jim, two nieces, one nephew, and extended family scattered around the country.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date in his home state of Michigan.
