Memorial services will be held at Olive Drive Church, 5500 Olive Dr., Wednesday, July 28, at 2:00 p.m., for Curtis "Curt" H. Kennedy, 81, who passed away July 23, 2004, in Bakersfield. Pastor Bill Taylor and the Associated Veterans of Kern County will officiate.
Curt was born November 20, 1922, in Oilton, Oklahoma and resided in Kern County for 31 years. He was a U. S. Navy Pilot of WW II. Curt was an educator for 56 years. He was a member of the Olive Drive Church, and a member and past president of the Retired Teachers Association. Curt was a faithful servant for 15 years to the Bakersfield Rescue Mission Board. He served as supervisor on the Board of Kern Schools Federal Credit Union and served on the board of Rosewood Retirement Community. He loved to garden and travel but his family always came first. Most of all he loved to share his faith in Jesus Christ.
Curt is survived by his wife, Mary Kennedy; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Sue and Raymond Wise, Judith Ann and Tony Oliver, all of Bakersfield, Karen Holly and John Ostermann of Lakewood, CA; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Curtis and Grace Kennedy of Shippensbury, Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Faye Kennedy of Lubbock, Texas, Robert and Sara Kennedy of Boise, Idaho, Kenneth and Lois Kennedy of Ada, Oklahoma and Jack and Carolyn Kennedy of Lubbock, Texas; and sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Harry Gruber of Boise, Idaho.
