J W Kelly age 77 of Purcell, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home. He was born October 31, 1935 in Erin Springs, Oklahoma. He was the 8th child of nine born to William Leroy Kelly and Lillie Mae (Herndon) Kelly. JW grew up a farm boy living in the communities of Erin Springs, Arnold View, and later Wayne. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1954. JW grew up working hard and continued that same work ethic throughout his life.

In 1958, he enlisted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam conflict. After serving two years in active duty he served four more years in Army Reserves before being honorably discharged.

On January 31, 1964, JW married the love of his life, a young lady from Purcell named Kaye Moore. Together they raised three sons. JW and Kaye lived 13 years in Washington State where he farmed and worked as a mechanic in the potato processing industry. They moved back to Oklahoma and finished raising their boys in the Wayne and Washington areas.

JW worked as a Production Equipment and Maintenance Mechanic and retired from Great Plains Coca-Cola Bottling Company. JW enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands. Before and after he retired he owned and operated an excavating and contracting business. For the past 35 years he was an active member of Union Hill Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for 13 years. JW loved his family and enjoyed family get-togethers. JW was a genuine man of God whose love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was evident to all.

JW was preceded in death by: Parents: William and Lillie Kelly Six brothers: Clyde, George, Clifton “Chip”, Doyle, Royce “Tubby” and OZ Kelly. Two sisters: Eloise Friday and Tijuana “Tonnie” Royle

He is survived by: Wife: Kaye Kelly of the home Three sons: Greg Kelly of Dallas, Texas Timmy Kelly of Houston, Texas Jason Kelly and wife Julie of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Sisters-in-law: Ruth Kelly of Maysville Charlotte Weaver of Wayne Nelda Moore, Linda Vaughn and Brenda Lee of Purcell Three grandchildren: Jackson, Judson and Jensen Kelly Also many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell. Memorials may be made to the Union Hill Baptist Church Mission Fund. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
