Robert "Bob" Karth, age 73, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at OU Medical Center in OKC.
Bob was born March 20, 1943 in Portland, Oregon. He was the youngest child of three children born to Paul Emil Karth and Edna Frances (Wolferth) Karth.
Bob grew up in Portland and graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1961.
After he graduated he was drafted to play baseball by a San Francisco Giants Farm Team. Instead, he enlisted into the U. S. Navy and started his life-long career in the military. Bob retired as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of dedicated service to his country. Throughout his years in the military he was awarded many honors including, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy "E" Ribbon, Humanitarian Services Metal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (2 Awards), National Defense Service Medal, Third Good Conduct Award for period ending August 13, 1976 and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (5 Awards). While in the military he lived in various cities in the U.S. and in several foreign countries.
After he retired he lived many years in Stockton, Illinois where he worked for Stockton Grade School in maintenance. While on a trip to Oklahoma to visit relatives in 1999, Bob met and later married Sharon Killgore Andrews of Washington, OK. They were married on May 17, 1999 and made their new home in the Washington community. Bob and Sharon both had children of their own before they were married, and now combined them to be one, big family. Bob loved to spend time with his family and especially enjoyed cooking for the grandchildren. Some of his hobbies included fly fishing, working on old automobiles, selling goods at flea markets, running Bob's Snack Bar and gardening. He was a very gifted self-made mechanic who serviced his own autos as well as those of his children and friends. This was one of his biggest passions in life. Bob was also a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul.
He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Paul and Edna Karth; A wife, Carol Ann Karth; Sister, Shirley Davies;
He is survived by: Wife, Sharon Karth of the home; Nine children, Jeff Karth and wife, Tammy, of OKC, Todd Karth and wife, Laura, of El Paso, TX, Mark Lucas of Noble, Cheryl Karth of Noble, Debbie Goit and husband, Todd, of Norman, Russell Andrews and wife, Amy, of Washington, Lisa Watkins and husband, Paul, of Harrah, Amy Sauceman and husband, Chad, of Washington, Jacob Andrews and wife, Gina, of Washington, Brother, Eddie Karth; 16 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A Rosary service will be 7:30pm Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell.
