Rita M. Junk of Kaw City passed away Monday, May 14, 2018 with her husband by her side. She was 82 years of age. Rita was born May 30, 1935 in Fannin County, Texas to Hazel Irene Carpenter and raised by mother and step father Sam Ferguson.
Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 in the Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dennis Wildman officiating.
Rita grew up in Texas and she worked for southwest Bell Telephone as an operator for several years. In 1955 she went on a blind date with Robert W. Junk in Hutchinson Kansas and they were married December 30, 1955 in Raton, New Mexico and made their home in Hutchinson, Kansas. Because of Roberts career in the Navy they moved frequently to Texas, California and settling in Pensacola Florida in 1966, they moved to Kaw City, OK in Oct. of 2006 to be close to family members. Rita was a dedicated housewife raising 4 children while Robert was deployed with the Navy. She loved to go shopping and going to antique stores.
Surviving is her husband Robert of 62 years of the home. 1 son; Kenneth W. Junk of Pensacola, FL, 2 daughters; Karen L. Rogers and husband Michael of Cantonment, FL and Rebecca I. Cook and husband Richard of Walnut Hil, Fl. 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Rita was preceded in death by her: Mother and step father, 1 son; Keith W. Junk 1 grandson Jeremy W. Baxley, 2 brothers; Jerry Ferguson and Kenny Ferguson.
