The memorial services celebrating and honoring the life of Zelda Jones, 93, of Enid will be held 10:00 A.M. September 13, 2017 with Pastor Matt Miles officiating. Complete cremation care is under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
She was born August 6, 1924 to John and Jessie Morehead Goodson in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and passed from this life on September 11, 2017 in Enid, Oklahoma.
She was raised and educated in Pauls Valley, graduating from Pauls Valley high school in 1943. She then attended the Nursing program at St. Anthony’s Hospital and worked as a Registered Nurse. After World War II she attended Oklahoma University receiving her bachelor’s degree and English. She then moved to Kirkland, Missouri where she achieved her master’s degree in English and became an English Professor. After retiring she moved to Houston, Texas and returned to nursing. A few years later she moved to Oklahoma City. While attending a reunion she reconnected with a former class mate, Ray I. Jones, and they were married in 2005.
She is survived by her niece Kathy Scott of Norman, nephews Ken Scott and Roger Scott, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
