ENID, OK - Harry William and Faye Ellen (Franklin) Jones were blessed with a boy, Robert Wayne Jones, born on June 23, 1936, in San Angelo, Texas.
Being one of five siblings, Bob grew up with a competitive nature. It was displayed through his athletic ability in many sports during high school and college, as he was known to be the "Big man on campus."
Bob graduated from Adams State College in 1959 and shortly after was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany for two years before being honorably discharged.
Upon returning from Germany, Bob married the love of his life, Velda Dene (Hohensee) on Dec. 15, 1962.
They spent 33 wonderful years together, until Velda's passing in 1996.
Bob moved to Enid, Okla., shortly after and was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He was known to have a big heart, willing to help anyone in time of need. It was evident through his many volunteer efforts in Habitat for Humanity as well as Our Daily Bread.
Bob enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and working on countless projects with his hands. He had a particular talent of being able to find all sorts of coins on the ground.
Bob's true love and passion was his family. He enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible and was very proud of them. Bob was especially excited and proud of his new great-grandson.
Bob went to join his bride Velda in Heaven on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He also was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Bob is survived by his son, Barry Jones and wife Cheryl of California; daughter, Bobbi Burkett and husband Tim of Kansas; grandchildren, Brooke Durnil and husband Thomas of California and Michael and Alexandra Burkett of Kansas; one great-grandson, Troy Durnil; brother, Donald Jones and wife Jill of Oklahoma; brother, Kenneth Jones and wife Theresa of Colorado; as well as many other family and friends.
