John E. "Johnny" Jones

John E. "Johnny" Jones
April 13, 1948 ~ July 23, 2024

A memorial service to remember and celebrate the life of John E. “Johnny” Jones will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024, in the chapel at DeLozier Funeral Service, Chelsea. John passed away at his home in Chelsea surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. He was 76.

Born at home in White Oak on April 13, 1948, to Carl O. and Margaret A. (Dunlap) Jones. Johnny was raised and educated in the Chelsea area and graduated from Alluwe Public Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army and faithfully served his country until receiving his honorable discharge. Johnny returned to Chelsea and after a very brief courtship (about 2 weeks), married the love of his life Eva L. Wilson. Their marriage was gifted with two children, Carl Ovid Jones II and Johnnie LaDon Jones. Johnny provided for his family working as a welder. It was a career that took him all over the United States and out of the country to Panama and Chilè and Johnny was a faithful member of the MCS family.

A man who was all about family; Johnny’s smile was always the brightest when surrounded by his family. He liked to help others. That desire came from his heart. He never wanted recognition or payment, he just wanted to help. Johnny liked to fish, hunt and go boating. The only rule he had to follow was he couldn’t go out on the boat by himself and if he did, his lovely wife wasn’t going to be happy. After retiring, Johnny’s happy place was on his land surrounded by his cattle. He developed a close friendship with Tom Wilson and looked forward to each day being filled with helping Tom with his cattle as well.

A man that has left a huge footprint and legacy, Johnny is survived by his wife of over 53 years Eva, children, Carl Jones and wife Jodie , Johnnie Jones, and her two fur kids Yoda and Vader, grandchildren, Riane, Justin, Kiley, Carlie, Colby, and Collin, great grandchildren, Gunner, Zayden, Sutton and Sunny, brothers, Darrell Jones and wife Carolyn, Harold Jones, Dale Jones and wife Carol, Chris Jones, sisters, Carolyn Jacobs and husband Bill and Shirley Hale, favorite sister-in-law, Sheryle Smith and husband Connie and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Curtis Jones, Tommy Jones, Carl Leroy Jones, sister, Connie Jones, mother and father-in-law, Ervin and Mayme Wilson, brothers-in-law, Don Hale, Laverne Wilson, Leroy Wilson, Gale Wilson and sisters-in-law, Karleen Kelly and Diana Boyd.
