Donald Ralph Jones, age 92, of Purcell passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 in Lexington, surrounded by his family. Don was born on August 23, 1933 in Purcell to Ray and Myrtle (Taylor) Jones. He was the youngest of 2 children born to the couple. Don grew up on a farm west of Purcell. He graduated from Washington High School and then attended East Central in Ada.
After college, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Don worked in financial services for hospitals in various states, eventually settling at Purcell Hospital in 1986 until his retirement.
During his time at Purcell Hospital, he met a lovely lady named Neva. The couple married on June 25, 1992 and were happily married for 33 years. After Don’s retirement, he became self-employed in appliance repair.
Don was a great student and teacher of the Bible. His greatest pleasure was sharing his faith and the scriptures with others. He also enjoyed writing poetry, fishing and wood carving. He was so talented and took pride in all his wood carving projects. His favorites were wood carvings of ducks, canes and hiking sticks.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Myrtle Jones and his sister, Gloria Fuller.
Don is survived by his lovely wife, Nema Jones of the home; his daughters, Jeanine McGee and husband Don of Poteau and Amy Canfield and husband Cory of Purcell; his 4 grandchildren, Channing, Maddy, Harleigh and Dayton; his 5 great-grandchildren; his nephews, Mike Fuller and wife Charlene of DuPont, WA and Kurt Fuller and wife Sheila of Woodland Park, CO; his cousins; a special friend, Otis Thomas; and multiple other friends.
Don was loved dearly and will be missed.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday April 28, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Harvest Time Church in Purcell, Oklahoma.
