Betty Raby Jones was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma to parents Ernest Arlen Raby and Hazel Irene Pelton-Raby on March 18th, 1944. She left this earth for her eternal home on May 26th, 2023.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Brown’s Funeral Home in Madill, Oklahoma, on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
When asked weeks before her passing what dreams she had growing up, she said she wanted to be a mother and grandmother and raise children. There wasn’t a friend, neighbor, or probably mailman that came by that didn’t hear about her “beautiful” children and grandchildren. She had a devoted love for her brother, Jimmy, and sister, Sherry, who all had a strong bond with one another growing up.
Aside from her main job she loved as being a mother, she worked for many years starting at a young age picking cotton. A few notable places she worked at were Stromberg Carlson, followed by the refinery, and her last job as managing the Highland Park apartments in Ardmore.
She fought a tough battle with colon cancer in her 50s that she overcame and lived a happy life with her husband for another 21 years filled with memories of the lake, her friends, her dogs, and spending time with loved ones. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Betty. She lived in Ardmore, OK, for many years and spent the last ten years in Lebanon, OK, with the lake community.
She was a part of the Madill class of ’62. She loved attending the yearly reunions, has kept up with her friends for years, and loves hearing stories about them. She moved back to Ardmore in 1974, where she met her very best friends Judy, Norma, Kay, and Shirley at the apartments they all lived in and made many happy memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Arlen Raby and Hazel Irene Klein, and stepfather, George F. Klein, and her brother Jimmy Raby.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie Jones, Lebanon, and her children, Rodney Holt, Norman, Stacey and Jim Ford, Ardmore; her sister Sherry Buchanan, Yukon; and her grandchildren, Megan Ford, Phoenix, AZ, Conner Holt, Arlington, VA, Colin and Madison Ford Shiloh, IL, Evan Holt, OKC, and Kennedy Holt, Edmond, and her dearest friend, Judy “Judith Anne” Butts, Ardmore, and loving friend, Doris Perry, Edmond.
