Louis Johnston
August 10, 1953 ~ December 27, 2024

Kemp, OK- Louis Johnston, former Durant resident, passed from this life on Friday, December 27th, 2024 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 71. Louis was born August 10th, 1953 in St. John’s, Newfoundland to the late Louis Trundle Johnston and Jane Isabella (Maddux).

Louis grew up and graduated from Durant School. He worked as a truck driver most of his life, logging many miles across the country. Louis married Melissa Rice on March 29th, 1998 in Kemp, Oklahoma and lived there the past 25 years. Louis enjoyed woodworking and doing projects around the house when he was younger. He was an avid collector of guns as he traded or bought many types of firearms. Louis was proud when he received his motorcycle license at 14 years old. He loved going on many road trips when he was able and driving his Peterbilt truck. He had a Harley Davidson at one time and always said that Peterbilt trucks were the best on the road. Louis loved his 2 favorite drinks: Dr. Pepper and a cup of coffee by the gallons. Louis and Melissa are members of the Kemp Baptist Church.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves behind his wife, Melissa, of Kemp; daughters Charley Johnston of Kemp, Torri Johnston and Alyssa Johnston both of Mead; a son, Clayton Johnston of Dallas, Texas; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandkids.

Services to celebrate Louis’ life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 3rd, at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Roger Speers officiating.
