Loving husband, father and grandfather, and the rock of our family, Michael Henry Johnson, 75, of Pink, Oklahoma lost his brief but very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, June 23.
Mike was born April 30, 1949 in Shawnee, OK to Henry Walker Johnson and Pauline Tupovich Johnson. Mike often joked that a celebrity was born at AC&H Hospital, and so was Brad Pitt. Shawnee was near and dear to his heart, and despite living all over the country as a military brat, Mike returned to Shawnee to make his life.
Upon graduation from Denison High School in Denison, TX, Mike worked as a machinist, beginning his obsession with motorcycles. In 1968 he joined the Marines, where he served in a combatant role in Vietnam.
He married the love of his life, Jan Isenhower on August 10, 1979. Mike served as a Shawnee police officer for 25 years until his retirement as a Sgt in 2002. Once retired, Mike heavily pursued his hobbies of hunting, fishing, competitive shooting, gunsmithing, motorcycling and engaging in political debates.
Mike is survived by his wife Jan, of the home, his son Derek (Crystal) Johnson of the family farm, daughter Lindsey (Tim Klassy) Johnson of Oklahoma City, and most importantly his three grandsons, Don, Doug and Daniel, who were the light in Mike’s eyes. His beloved siblings, brother, Joe Johnson of Oklahoma City and sister Dovie (Chuck Beegle) Brown of Florida, were by his side until the end.
The family has designated the American Cancer Society or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation as appropriate for memorials in lieu of flowers.
Per Mike’s request, there will be no service. We ask that you honor his memory by enjoying the great outdoors at every opportunity. Cremation arrangements by Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
