Donnie Lynn Johnson, 67 year old resident of Higgins, TX, passed from this life June 21, 2016 at his home. Donnie was born May 16, 1949, in Amarillo, TX. He was the son of Knox and Rosa (Laubhan) Johnson. He went to Higgins Public School graduating with the Class of 1968. Donnie attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK graduating with a Bachelors Degree in 1972 and a Masters Degree in Education in 1973.
On October 23, 1976 Donnie married Monita Kaye Tangney at the United Methodist Church in Higgins, TX. They were blessed with two children Donita and William. They lived on a ranch south of Higgins were he raised cattle for a living.
Donnie was a member of the Higgins United Methodist Church, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, and the Mason's. He enjoyed seeing calves in the pasture and talking with friends at the coffee shop. There was never a dull moment because he enjoyed life and joking with others so much. Donnie was a great friend and father.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents Knox and Rosa Johnson, brother Ronnie Johnson, uncle Alex Laubhan Jr., aunts Esther Barton and Norma Lee Laubhan, sisters Dale June Nichols and Barbara Christie, and brothers Wayne and Dewayne Nichols.
He is survived by his children Donita Cartmill and husband Andrew of Platteville, WI and William Johnson and wife Mary Ann of Malolos, Philippines; sisters Lois James of Amarillo, TX, Charlene Brown of Amarillo, TX, Kathy Jones of Sweetwater, TX, and Jackie Wiswell of Dumas, TX; cousins Judy Fehlman, Carrie Ingram, and Johanna Ashley; nieces, nephews, other family, and a host of friends.
