Barbara Marie Johnson

Barbara Marie Johnson
March 7, 1948 ~ April 4, 2025

Barbara Marie Johnson was a resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She began her heavenly journey on April 4, 2025, after battling Parkinson’s for the last several years. She was called home at the age of 77 years.

Barbara was born in Topeka, Kansas, on March 7th, 1948, to Cecilia Mitchell and Roy Johnson. She was raised by her mom, Cecilia and her stepfather, Rudolph Mitchell. She was the eldest of four siblings.

She was a member of the Sac and Fox tribe of Oklahoma and the Prairie Band of Pottawatomie. Before she retired, she worked at various IHS clinics and then she ended her career at the Wahzhazhe Health Center Optometry Department, located in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

She loved spending time with family, friends and her church family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She had a passionate, deep love for all her grandchildren and found pleasure in being a foster parent/grandparent to others. She was culturally connected to her tribe and native community in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Dewey, Oklahoma and the Osage community.

In her last days she and sister Loretta (Ducky) reminisced about the days of old. They shared many deep conversations about the future, kids and family. She is known for having her favorite brother-in-law Tom's back when it came to teasing and picking on her little sister.

She found her spiritual home at New Hope Indian United Methodist Church, in Dewey, Oklahoma. She was able to discover a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, and she adopted her new church family and created wonderful memories.

Today, Barbara is survived by her children, Delfina Marie Segura, Lucian James Johnson, Angela Kay Roberts Morrow, and Terry Russell Roberts and wife Rachel Roberts; her sister, Loretta Hernandez; her brother-in-law, Tom; 11 grandchildren, which includes celebrity chef Pyet, and David, Jacinto, Tony, Jordan, Reese, Chakah, Farren, Madison, Matthew, Mason; and 11 great-grandchildren!

She is preceded in death by 2 brothers, Randy Mitchell and Ricky Mitchell; her parents, Cecilia Mitchell and stepfather, Rudolph Mitchell; father, Roy Johnson; adopted daughter, Rickelle Jo Mitchell; and one grandson, Anthony Fernando Despain.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at New Hope Indian United Methodist Church with the Reverend Sunrise Ross officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
