It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Kay Jindra on Jan. 31, 2025, at the age of 76.
Linda was born Aug. 1, 1948, in Kingfisher to Howard and Dorothy Layton.
She grew up on the family farm north of Kingfisher and graduated from Dover High School. She married Bill Jindra in 1966 and had two sons, Tim and Barry.
She went to work at KB&T (later BancFirst) and worked her way up to the head bookkeeper position which she held until her retirement in 2013.
Linda loved her Banc-First family and made lots of great memories and lifelong friends there.
Linda was a member of the First Christian Church of Kingfisher her entire life and even though she wasn’t able to personally attend church services anymore, due to health issues, her church family was always very important to her and she watched services online as often as she could.
Linda was also a very accomplished musician. She played the piano, organ and, in her younger years, the accordion.
She was the organist at the church for many years and sang in the choir most of her adult life. She had the most beautiful singing voice and Tim and Kim were very privileged to have her sing at their wedding.
She loved her family very much and was especially proud of her grandchildren who have wonderful memories of staying the night at gramma’s house and sometimes getting into a little mischief.
Gramma didn’t mind, though. She just giggled that wonderful trademark giggle and told them to behave.
Linda wasn’t just a mutheir sician; she had many talents. She knitted, crocheted, quilted, did needlepoint and loved jigsaw puzzles.
She made afghans for many of her family members which are cherished by them. She was also a wonderful seamstress and made many of her own clothes in her younger years and she loved to participate in the Kingfisher Rockin’ Boppin’ concert series and did so for many years.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Howard Layton and Dorothy (Harris) Layton, her brother Charles Layton, sister Beverly Arnold, granddaughter Drew Castleberry and nephew Kevin Sandusky.
She is survived by her sons Tim (Kim) Jindra and Barry (Shelly) Jindra, all of Kingfisher; grandchildren Tori Castleberry, Jessica Jindra, Trevor Jindra and Scott Jindra; one great-grandson, Reese Castleberry; and niece, Vanessa Sandusky.
While our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering and is with her family again.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at the First Christian Church of Kingfi sher under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service.
The family requests donations be made to the First Christian Church, 102 S. 7th St., Kingfisher OK 73750.
