Lavana Jeter, 85, of Enid, passed away on April 15 2019. Per her request, there will be no traditional funeral service. Lavana, a registered organ donor, bequeathed an anatomical donation to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center for education and research purposes.
Lavana was born on May 4, 1933, to Mabel and Lloyd Martin in Selman, Oklahoma. She graduated from Wakita High School, Phillips University, and earned a Master's degee in social work form the University of Oklahoma. After living at various locations throughout the country, Lavana returned to Enid in 2003 to live out the rest of her days.
Lavana had a zest for life and was active in the Red Hat Society and various causes related to social justice. Her final request was if you wish to remember her in some way, please surprise someone with a random act of kindness in her spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Joe Boattenhamer and David Jeter. Surviving are her sons, Greg Boattenhamer (Holly) and Kirk Boattenhamer (Mike); grandchildren Tyler, Kelsey and Haley; and great-grandsons Mason, Dawson, Treyce and Hayden.
A brief memorial service is planned for 4:00 p.m. May 4 at the Golden Oaks Village chapel on what would have been Lavana's 86th birthday.
