The Memorial gathering celebrating and honoring the life of Shirley Wearren Jenkins will be held 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. Tuesday January 23, 2024, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Interment will be held at a later date in the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, where she will be reunited with her southern gentleman, husband William F. Jenkins Jr. Complete cremation and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.
Shirley Wearren Jenkins, daughter of Thomas and Elsie Wearren, was born September 21, 1936, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and passed from this life January 18, 2024, in Enid, Oklahoma.
She was raised and educated in Plainfield, New Jersey, graduating with the class of 1954. On February 15, 1958, she married William F. Jenkins Jr. They welcomed to the family three children, Thomas, Cheryl, and Denise. She enjoyed and was very proud of her thirty-five years as a registered Girl Scout, holding local, district, and regional positions. She enjoyed camping with her family and making memories. Shirley created many handmade needlecraft gifts for family and friends that will be cherished for many generations.
She is survived by her children, Thomas (Debbie) Jenkins, Cheryl (Kenneth) Crise, and Denise (Michael) Lavoie; grandchildren, Shelly (Jeremy) Lorraine, Jessica (Nick) Wilson, Tim (Amanda) Lavoie, Daniel Crise, Eric (Schyler) Lavoie, Jeremy (Hannah) Crise, and Devyn (Phillip) Condreay; seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way; two great-great-grandchildren, with one one the way; and her special nephew, Thomas (Amy) Steward.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Jenkins; daughter, Gail; parents, Thomas and Elsie Wearren; and sister, Beverly.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be given in her honor to the Girl Scouts of America, with Brown-Cummings, A life Celebration home, serving as custodian of the funds.
