Dwayne Jeffries
December 16, 1935 ~ April 20, 2018

On April 20, 2018, Dwayne Jeffries went to be with his Savior at the age of 82.

He was born on December 16, 1935, in Ringwood, Oklahoma. As a young man, his uncles encouraged him to continue in school after he earned his diploma at Ringwood High School.

He pursued a bachelor's degree at McPherson College in Kansas while also playing on the college football team.

He then went on to earn his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University.

Inspired by President Kennedy's speech, "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country," Dwayne joined the Peace Corps in 1963 and was stationed in Kudat, Borneo.

He married fellow Peace Corps volunteer, Ruth Reece, in 1965. They eventually settled in California where they raised their three daughters.

Dwayne was a veterinarian in Southern California for most of his career. He opened his own practice, La Mesa Pet Hospital, and served the San Diego community for almost 20 years. He performed spays and neuters at cost, helping many low income families.

He moved to Menifee, California, in retirement, where he was active in Gideons International and Senior Softball. He also enjoyed playing golf on the local golf course.

Dwayne was proud of his Oklahoma roots and often told his daughters that the best people in the world lived there.

Dwayne will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Jackie Thompson, Rachel Fuller and Rita Jeffries; his sons-in-law, Mike Fuller and Tom Thompson; his grandchildren, Makenna, Callie and Elliana Fuller, and Luke and Dylan Thompson; and his sister Glenda McCormick and her family.
