Clara E. (Miller) Jantz
December 01, 1932 ~ July 27, 2018

A Celebration of Life in memory of Clara Jantz, 85, Enid, is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel.

Cremation and service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clara E. (Miller) Jantz, of White Oak, Pennsylvania, was born December 1, 1932, in Port Vue, Pennsylvania, to the late Charles and Hazel Miller. She passed away at age 85 on July 27, 2018, in Enid, Oklahoma. Clara was the wife of the late Paul Wm. Jantz.

She was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Jantz; brothers, William Walter Miller and William Thomas Miller; and sister, Ruth Mae Miller.

Clara is survived by her sons, Michael Jantz and Allan Jantz; daughters, Sharon Jantz and Paula Rumohr; and sister, Nora Spahr; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Clara served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1954. She was one of two women in a class of 12 for radio maintenance and repair. She moved and traveled with her husband through his military career.

In 1964, while pregnant, she helped build the Greentree Seventh Day Adventist Church. Clara was active in church life until the family moved to Oklahoma in 1975.

To help with the family income, she did various jobs, one in which she taught herself, engraving. She worked as the principal engraver for Jantz Jewelers in Victorville, California.

Once in Oklahoma, she found employment with Vance Air Force Base, where she worked as a quartermaster for the base galley, a reproduction and print specialist, flight-line mechanic, senior aircraft mechanic, and finally as a pilot debriefing specialist before retiring.

In her spare time, Clara enjoyed photography, woodworking and embroidery quilting. In her early years, she documented her travel and adventures with black and white photography. In later years, she switched to color film and continued to photograph the world around her. As an expression of her creativity, she made wooden toys and animals.

After retiring, she started embroidery quilting. Clara made uniquely personalized quilts for her family.
