Born in Norman, OK, a Bakersfield resident since 1961. 1968 Graduate of North High School in Oildale, CA. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Vietnam War and during the resolution of the Korean/Pueblo incident. He received the following awards/honors: the Presidential Citation, 3 Vietnam Campaign Medals with 3 Clusters. Vietnam has claimed one more fallen soldier & unsung hero due to Agent Orange.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Karen Tyson Jacobs. He was preceded in death by his Father, Charles Howard on June 23, 1992. He is also survived by his mother, Jean Jacobs of Bakersfield, CA. He is survived by his brother, Rick and his wife, Joyce Jacobs; brother, Gary and his wife Sherry Jacobs, all of Bakersfield; a sister, Debra and husband Alvin Mathis of Fellows, CA. He is survived by 3 aunts, 1 uncle and numerous 1st & 2nd cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 15, 2004, 1:00 p.m. at Coronado Baptist Church, 516 Norris Road, Bakersfield.
