Memorial services for Alice Elizabeth Jacobs, 74, of Marietta were held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 29 in the First United Methodist Church in Marietta with the Reverend David Shahan officiating.
Born July 29, 1940 at Sasakwa, the daughter of George Wilson Lange and Rose Ellen King-Lange, she died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at her residence in Marietta.
A resident of Marietta since 2001, Alice had been very involved in volunteer work in every community in which she lived. She and Ronald Jacobs were marred in Albion on December 27, 1961. The couple made their home in the Panama Canal Zone for 20 years working in Civil Service for the Panama Canal Company. In addition, Mrs. Jacobs taught in several schools in Oklahoma. Alice was active in lineage societies, including the Daughters of 1812, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Daughters of the American Colonies, was a State Officer for the Daughters of the American Revolution, and served as the State Governor of the Continental Society of Daughters of Indian Wars.
She was also very active in numerous volunteer organizations such as the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of Mercy Health Love County, RSVP, SODA Area on Aging and Ombudsman for many years. Alice will be remembered as a wonderful cook who enjoyed sharing with others. She was a member of Marietta’s First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Ron of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Lange and Jennifer Jacobs of Boca Raton, Florida and a granddaughter, Jill Elizabeth Jacobs.
