Mary Ruth Jackman

Mary Ruth Jackman, 76, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Alan Abraham, interim minister of First Christian Church, officiating. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Mausoleum by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Home, 5400 S. Bell St.

Mrs. Jackman was born Dec. 16, 1925, in Elmer, Okla. She married Richard Jackman in 1947 in Altus, Okla. She was a graduate of Southside High School in Jackson County, Okla., and West Texas State University in Canyon 1979. She was managing owner of Jackman Enterprises.

She worked for Amarillo schools in administration, taught at Travis Middle School and retired from the school district. She served as president of Amarillo Classroom Teachers in 1974 to 1975 and was an active member of National Education Association and Texas State Teachers Association. She served on Amarillo Parks and Recreation Commission and was active in ACDL and Bridge Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Jackman of Amarillo; and a grandson, Robert Jackman-Gordon of Amarillo.
