Kathy, also known as Grandma Happy, was born at her home in Wann, OK, on November 8, 1947. She graduated from Wann High School in the class of 1966. Kathy spent her young adulthood in Christian ministry. She traveled with her children across the United States and Canada, preaching and sharing the Word of God. After returning, she began working for Payless Shoe store corporation as a General Manager for approximately 15 years. She also worked as a part-time Certified Nurse Assistant at Jane Phillips Hospital for many years.

In 1991, Kathy returned to school determined to pursue a career in nursing. She began her nursing education at the Licensed Practical Nursing program at Tri County Tech, Bartlesville, OK. She went on to pursue her registered nursing degree and transitioned to Oklahoma Wesleyan, graduating in 2000 with her bachelor's degree in nursing from Oklahoma Wesleyan University, Bartlesville, OK. Kathy became a fixture at Jane Phillips Medical Center as a Nursing Manager for many years.

She valued time spent traveling and visiting with lifelong friends. She cherished and admired her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family is deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved matriarch. Grandma Happy's (Kathy) legacy and strength will forever live on through her loved ones. She will be deeply missed.

Family has decided on cremation service and date of memorial will be at a later time.

Kathy often reflected on the LPN education she received at Tri County Tech and believed that program laid a strong foundation for her stellar nursing career. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we’ve created a unique payment link for donations in her honor to the LPN program at TCT. Through this tribute, her legacy will inspire and support students pursuing bright and impactful nursing careers.
