Darrell Dean Ille, age 82 of Lexington, passed away Friday June 5, 2015, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital. Darrell was born September 26, 1932, in Lexington, Oklahoma, and was the oldest of three sons born to Mike and Jennie Ille. He grew up southeast of Lexington and attended Stovall School, before going to Lexington High School and graduating in 1950.
A month after graduation, he married Evelyn Kelley on June 27, 1950. Together they raised three children, two sons, Jerry and Gary and a daughter, Kathy. Darrell worked as truck driver in road construction and maintenance for Cleveland County while retiring after 30-plus years of dedicated service. He also painted homes and ran a few head of cattle on his farm. He was a member of the Lexington School Board from 1962-1977, the Lexington Swine Breeders and was a Lexington Little League coach. He was the first public address announcer for the Lexington High School football program in the late 1960s and spent numerous years in the press box. Darrell and Evelyn enjoyed many fishing trips to the lake with their family, but their greatest joy was supporting their kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their school activities, sporting events and livestock shows. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His wife of 63 years: Evelyn; His son: Gary; His parents: Mike and Jennie Ille.
Darrell leaves behind: Son: Jerry Ille and wife Marketa of Lexington; Daughter: Kathy Grider and husband Harry of Lexington; Brothers: Warren Ille of Oklahoma City and Terry Ille of Norman; Grandchildren: Cale Ille and wife LaKeta of Lexington, Kelley Ille of Lexington; Amber Purtell and husband Clint of Frisco, Texas; Ashley Lacefield and husband Scott of Lubbock, Texas. Great grandchildren: Chloe, Seth, Brooklyn, Jackie, Chip, Tegan and Jenny. Several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, at First Baptist Church in Lexington.
