Margaret Anne Husted, age 87, long time resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away on January 26, 2018 in McKinney, TX. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Ponca City with Pastor Truman Ferguson presiding.

Margaret was born on March 10, 1930 to May and Robert Hollowell in Ark City, Kansas. She taught first grade for 7 years.

She also taught first grade for 7 years at the original Jefferson Elementary School and Finley elementary, a two-room country school house. She was particularly interested in the teaching of reading. She believed in using phonics to sound out words and used Lippincott publisher's books to teach this method. She also worked with the Child Development Center of Ponca City for several years.

She loved Pug dogs for their adorable ugliness and sweet personalities. She owned two pugs when her son was in high school and college named Ma Tzu and Chu Chen which meant face rather ugly and absolutely beautiful respectively. She enjoyed attending the annual Pug-O-Ween in Dallas where members of the DFW Pug rescue club dressed their dogs in costume and entered them in a contest for the best costume in different categories.
Margaret is survived by her son, Chris Husted of Allen, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert Walter Husted.

Honorary Casketbearers are: Bob Bryant, Bob Case, Patricia Leonetti, and William Soule.
