Private family services for Raymond Lawrence Huseman, 83, of Chickasha, will be held.
Raymond Lawrence Huseman left this earthly life on Monday, January 8, 2007 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Lawton.
Raymond was born near Hallsburg, Texas on June 26, 1923, the son of Gus and Louise Huseman. He married Marguerite Shoffit in Pocasset on February 12, 1942.
He was a 50 year resident of the Chickasha area. He grew up in the Waco, Texas area and never lost his love for the Brazos River. When he was 8 years old, his father left the family. Raymond borrowed a mule and plow from the neighbor and planted and harvested a cotton crop with the help of his older sister, Louise, and a neighbor. This began a lifetime of hard work at a variety of jobs. The Oklahoma Wildlife Department being his favorite. He enjoyed fishing and yard work, but he most enjoyed time spent with his 4 grandsons.
Raymond served in the U.S. Navy from September, 1943 through January, 1946. He was a Ship's Cook 3rd Class aboard the USS Pollux. He was never a prisoner of war.
He was preceded in death by: His twin brother, Gus; Brothers: Bill and Carl of Waco, Texas; Sisters: Louise of Waco; and Edna of Washington; four step-sisters; Infant daughter, Loretta June.
He is survived by: His wife of 64 years: Marguerite Huseman; one daughter: Gayle Jackson and husband Ray of Lake Alvarado, Texas; one son: Steve Huseman of Chickasha; Grandsons: Jeff Jackson and wife Cara of Enid; Randy Jackson and wife Gabriela of Godley, Texas; Brian Huseman of Washington, D.C.; Jonathan Huseman and wife Courtney of Cushing; Great-grandchildren: Jordan, Hunter and Chandler of Enid; Cassie of Godley, Texas; Kirk and Heidi of Cushing.
Services are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
