Leo Dean Hurt

December 3, 1952 ~ Feb. 3, 2013

LEO DEAN HURT, one of five children born to Alfred "Shortie" and Wanda Carlyn (Strecker) Hurt, was born December 3, 1952 at Fairview, OK. He departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 southeast of Chester, OK. He was 60 years of age.

He was known to his family and friends as Dean and he was raised in Enid and Lahoma. He attended Roosevelt Elementary School in Enid, junior high in Lahoma and he graduated from Enid High School.

He entered the United States Navy where he served three separate enlistments. He worked on electronics in submarines during much of his military time. Following his honorable discharge, Dean worked for Dayton Tire Company in Oklahoma City nearly twenty years as an instrument technician. After the plant closed, he returned to Major County where he helped care for his mother.

He is survived by his mother, Wanda Hurt of Chester, two sisters, Carrie Jones and Vicky Swanson both of Enid, one brother, Jon Hurt and wife Alice of Meno. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1998, his daughter, Megan Carlyn Hurt in 2001 and his older brother, Al Hurt in 2005.

A memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at the Redinger Funeral Chapel with Pastor Charles Newton, officiating. Private burial followed.
