Wayne Hunt

Wayne Hunt
February 19, 1951 ~ March 4, 2025

Wayne Hunt, 74, of Wagoner, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. A hardworking man with a heart as big as the fish he loved to catch, he spent many years in pool maintenance at Fiesta Pools and then went on to have his own business, dedicating himself to his craft and always taking pride in a job well done. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found casting a line, patiently waiting for the perfect catfish, or restoring classic muscle cars—his passion for both evident in the gleam of a freshly tuned engine or the excitement of a good catch. He had an ornery streak and a great sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a teasing remark that made everyone around him laugh. He loved a good meal, never turning down a hearty plate, and was a devoted fan of John Wayne and classic western movies, finding joy in the simplicity and values of the old west. Above all, he was a wonderful father, grandfather, and brother, cherishing the time spent with his loved ones. His legacy of hard work, laughter, and love will live on in the memories of those who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Palmer and husband Joe of Wagoner, OK, and Rhonda Fisher and husband Jarad of Broken Arrow, OK; his brother, Gene Hunt and wife Mary Ellen of Wagoner, OK; his sisters, Daisie White of Sulphur Springs, TX, and Denise Larkin of Jay, OK; four grandchildren, Andrew Bryant, Rebecca Potter and husband Shawn, Nathan Bryant, and Milly Fisher; three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Coby, and Roger; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Rollie and Josephine (Pearson) Hunt; his son, Roger Hunt; his brother, Ronnie Hunt; and his sisters, Frances Fry and Janie Spradlin.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel in Pryor. To leave his family a message, please visit his Tribute Wall at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service.
